The last COTM gig and a quick trip to Gnarfest
So the very first gig under the cotm name was in 1999, last weekend the final one happened. I will try to get together posters from all the gigs but pretty sure there will be some that are lost in time.
So anyway a matinee banger in Stoke on Trent was a good send off, the turnout was perfect, it was loud and in a small room whats not to love? Also Drunken Sailor mate Julian/Juice and partner in crime Tracey were on board to keep everything shipshape (soz).
Thumbsucker opened in their current 2 piece form, love the LP we helped them with since then there's a 5inch with Newport pv wreckers loach and soon a split 10" with Atomck.... anyway its on and who knows if the gig will get shut down....a lot of noise from 2 people in the best way possible
There's further COTM involvement with Krupskaya next up, couldn't take a terrible picture and play but yeah 2 sets down and no noise complaints... the cultural quarter of Hanley are very tolerant it seems!
Industry from Berlin play with local jake Kent doing vocals, he's lived in Berlin a few years now and they smash out some zntgemic anarcho punk.... I really loved as well how the drums kept the bass drum complimenting some of the joy divisionesque bass lines whilst the Tom's are tipping their hat to the anarcho scene. Riotous stuff fir a satdee afternoon up 'anley
So Industry have a gig at Nottingham later on, it feels odd to have finished putting on gigs as a decision... don't get me wrong lack of venue has sometimes slowed things down but to decide to stop was strange but felt right for the time being.
So having got distracted it was time to whack a pizza down my neck and get to Nottingham for a bit of Gnarfest 25. So many awesome notts folk putting on awesome gigs
All the bands I caught were awesome and was glad to finally see the Shits! Here's some terrible photos and a promise to try to find all the posters from all the gigs.....
