We Go Fast And Slow #3. Part 1: Bile Caster

So first off for issue 3 we have Bile Caster, already making waves in the festering pit of sludge over here in the UK. Anyways here we go, links at the end and avoid facial expressions of happiness:

1. So let’s get the admin out the way; Why Bilecaster?  Who does what and List your discography

Joe came up with the name, is a Mangle song from a split they did years ago, pretty sure Joe asked one of them permission before using it. Line up is Joe - guitar/vocals, Nick - bass and Adam - drums, formed in 2019 and have released a demo, a split and an EP.

2. If someone is reading but not heard you yet is there a song that serves best as an introduction?

The Writhing Between Birth and Death EP would be a good start, the opener Abscess is a solid representation of us.

 3. You’re not shy of the diy but there are some that are knocking around in similar circles but without this approach do you find this causes friction or do you just see it as horses for courses?

We’ve not really experienced any friction on that front so yeah horses for courses, we’re not too picky about who we play with so have played with all sorts of bands. Is never a bad thing to see another bands approach to stuff.

4. Where do the songs come from?? Do they start with some riffs pre-written, jamming and keeping the best bits or starting with a set of lyrics?

The songs generally come from riffs, Nick or Joe record rough demos and we develop things from there at practice, vocals and lyrics come after that. We haven’t actually written that many songs so we’re still growing when it comes to writing in this band, got more we want to try. 5. Speaking of lyrics, are there any parameters/limitations set for bc? The lyrics generally cover negative/miserable topics, there’s a lot of inspiration around for that kind of thing so we don’t feel limited by that at all. Joes approach is quite vague so the words can mean anything to anyone, they mean something to us but that might not be completely obvious.

6. Do you as individuals or as a group find that playing the songs is cathartic so outside of bc there can be some occasional smiles or is playing something you feel driven to do but without it making you feel better?

Playing in Bile Caster is definitely a positive release for us and is pretty much the point of the band. Being able to play loud and be pissed off for half an hour is something we’d miss if we didn’t have it.

7. It was so awesome that Road to Masochist helped you to release your monster 12"  what’s next?

Yes! Road to Masochist have been amazing to us and did a great job with the vinyl, same goes for Eggy Tapes and Cursed Monk Records with the tape and CD. We basically spent 2025 playing the songs from that release so now we’re focusing on new stuff and hope to release something in 2026.

8. What is your view on social media, are we overloaded with information? Does it help you as a band to function? Do you find it difficult to keep up with?

Social media is very useful for communication, promotion etc but all platforms are generally cesspools, we try not to post anything unless there’s a good reason to do so.

9. Are there any recommendations of bands from. Round your way that people should check out? Leicester seems very healthy anything about leicester diy you want to highlight?

Yeah the local scene here has been great for a good few years now, especially the punk bands. Joe also does vocals for Feral State who are very, very good, Life is Cheap, Sex Germs and Thumbsucker are favourites too. There’s a healthy amount of venues and promoters around which definitely helps as well, very grateful for them. 10. Anything that you would like to say??any smiles?

 No Smiles                                                                                                                     SMILES
